Dan O’Byrne (P.Eng, MBA, ICD.D), CEO

Dan has over 30 years of diverse experience in the international and North American oil industry. He has participated in major projects in Canada, the United Kingdom (North Sea), the Middle East, West Africa, Australia and other countries. Dan served as CEO of Spyglass Resources Corp. from mid-2014 through late 2015. Prior to that, he was a Founder, Director and President of Charger Energy Corp. starting in mid-2010. Until 2010, he was Executive Vice President, Operations and Chief Operating Officer for Provident Energy Ltd. where he was responsible for Provident's oil & gas divisions and midstream operations. His previous positions have included numerous executive and management positions with Nexen Inc., and Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd.

Dan is a former director of the Petroleum Technology Research Center and a past chair of the Canadian Oil Sands Network for Research and Development. He was a governor of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), and is one of the Society of Petroleum Engineers' published authors. He has served as a director for a number of public oil and gas companies as well as several charitable and not for profit organizations.

Andrew Wiacek (P. Geoph. MSc), President

Andrew is a Professional Geophysicist with over 26 years of progressive experience in the WCSB. He has wide ranging experience encompassing the Executive Suite as President and VP Exploration, successful unconventional play prospect generation, reserves evaluation, acquisitions and divestitures, with excellent communication skills. 

Andrew has served as President, CEO and Founder of Black Hills Resources Ltd., President of ORLEN Upstream Canada Ltd, and VP Exploration and Founder of TriOil Resources Ltd.  He has also held various executive and management positions with Regatta Resources Ltd., Rocor Resources Inc., Bear Ridge Resources Ltd., Ketch Resources Trust, Bear Creek Energy Ltd., Ventus Energy Ltd., Renaissance Energy Ltd., Crestar Energy, Hillcrest Resources, and Mobil Oil Canada. Paul McDougall (CA, CPA), CFO

Paul has over 20 years of experience with strong financial, capital markets and analytical skills. He has been CEO of Redhill Resources, CFO of Central European Petroleum and CFO of OSUM Oil Sands.  Previous experience includes Centurion Energy International, Deloitte & Touche, Price Waterhouse and other organizations.

Craig Haavardsrud, (BCom), VP Business Development & Land

Craig has over 19 years of business experience with the last 14 at the executive level.  He has worked with Black Hills Resources, TriOil Resources, Canada Capital Energy Corporation, Fairmount Energy, Crescent Point Energy Trust, Vintage Petroleum Canada, and Petro Canada Oil and Gas.


Jeremy Hodder (P.Tech. (Eng.)), VP Operations

Jeremy has over 22 years of diverse industry experience, most recently with Progress Energy Canada Limited as Director, Drilling and Completions.  While at Progress Energy from 2010 through 2017 he was responsible for operations and a multi-disciplined team focused on the massive North Montney resource for future LNG development.  His previous experience includes senior management and technical roles with Husky Energy Offshore Atlantic, FET Resources and Devon Canada.  Jeremy is a member of the Association of Science and Engineering Technology professionals of Alberta.


Floyd Siegle (P. Eng. MBA), VP Engineering

Floyd has over 40 years of engineering experience in the oil and natural gas sector, most recently as Vice President, Engineering at Spyglass Resources Corp. and Charger Energy Corp. Prior thereto he was Senior Manager, Reserves and Evaluations at Provident Energy Trust, Vice President Engineering at AJM Petroleum Consultants and held various engineering positions with progressively increasing responsibilities with major E&P companies. Mr. Siegle is the Past President of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE). He previously served as chairman of the Calgary Chapter of SPEE and on the Petroleum Advisory Committee of the Alberta Securities Commission (ASC).

Scott Leroux (P.Geol. MSc), VP Exploration

Scott has over 19 years of geological and managerial experience with a focus in the WCSB. He’s drilled more than 280 wells, evaluated over 120 properties/companies, and managed both geological and multi-discipline teams. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). He is a long-time CSPG volunteer who has served several terms on the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG) executive, including the Program Director and Finance Director roles. He was Manager of Geology at Long Run Exploration, Sr. BD Geologist at Surge Energy and held various technical and managerial roles with Encana Corporation and its predecessor, PanCanadian Energy.

Cal Jaycock (P.Geol.), Senior Technical Advisor

Cal has over 37 years of industry experience, most recently with ARC Resources Ltd. as Exploration Manager.  While at ARC Resources from 2009 through January 2017 he was responsible for exploration geology with a principal focus on the Montney formation.  His previous experience includes executive roles with Rocor Resources and Bear Ridge Resources as well as senior technical positions with Ketch Resources, Bear Creek Energy, Mancal Energy, Star Oil & Gas and New Cache Petroleums.


Mike Nish (P.Eng.), Production Manager

​Mike has over 9 years of industry experience, most recently as the Production Superintendent at a private company operating in Alberta and NEBC. His previous experience includes production engineering roles with Spyglass Resources Corp. and Pace Oil & Gas Ltd. Mike is a member of APEGA and SPE with a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming.


Stuart Widmer (P.Ag.), Environment, Health, Safety & Compliance

Stuart has over 21 years of EHS experience in Canada’s upstream and midstream oil and gas industry. From native prairie to the boreal forest, Stuart has developed and implemented EHS programs and systems for energy companies across the WCSB. In addition to his recent managerial and executive roles, Stuart continues to be active in the field at all stages of project and program development. Stuart has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary and is a member in good standing of both the Alberta Institute of Agrologists and the Canadian Land Reclamation Association.
